Pizza Fat Bombs

I don’t know if you’ve heard, but Fat Bombs are all the craze these days!  It’s a wonderful way to get healthy fats into your body while enjoying something delicious. For the longest time, I thought they were only a desserty thing.  I had NO idea there were savory options too.  The options are only limited only by your imagination! My friend Morgan turned me onto this delish treat and has inspired me to experiment and enjoy the creativity involved.  Bombs Away!

For those of you who are unaware of healthy fats, there is such a thing!  Traditional foods count on healthy fat to keep us satiated, nourished and whole.  They call for 70-80% fat in the diet.  My food intake has dropped dramatically because I am satiated with less food.  Healthy fat is a necessity for anyone who is struggling with their health, getting pregnant or feeding a baby and should definitely be eaten by those who are working to maintain their health.

So what are these “healthy” fats?   Raw butter, raw milk, coconut oil, raw cheeses, tallow, and duck fat are the first things that come to mind.  If you are unable to get raw dairy, your best bet is to find butter and cheese from grass fed cows.  KerryGold feeds their cows on grass most of the year and is a good alternative.

So I came home from work and had a hankering for pizza.  Pizza was always one of those go-to foods for me.  In college, as soon as I got my hands on an extra $10, I was calling Papa John’s to deliver me a large pizza with garlic sauce on the side. Oh Yeah! That was the good stuff.  When I moved out on my own, I would get those little frozen pizzas.  I lived off of those for awhile too.  But since I’ve been working towards eating more nutritious foods, pizza has been one that I don’t get to visit with very often. Plus, none of the crusts I’ve made really measure up.  I was thinking about making some pizza on sourdough toast, but the bread had mold on it (tossed).  A light bulb went off while I talked with Morgan!  I had all the makings of pizza, just no crust!  So I made a pizza fat bomb. Mixed it all together, heated it up and ate it like a dip with crackers.  It was the BOMB!  In fact, I’m planning to make it again this weekend.  Now, I can visit with my old friend and feed my body at the same time.  Man, I LOVE this stuff.

Butter and/or cream cheese are the basis for most fat bomb combinations, but any health fat can be used at your discretion.  Adding a pinch of Himilayan salt is a good idea too.  Below are a few ideas on how to change up the flavors.  Just throw them all in a food processor and taste as you go, or mix them by hand.

Olives, sun-dried tomato pesto, olive oil
Smoked salmon, dill, garlic, salt
Sardines, lemon, salt, pepper,
Blueberries, coconut oil, coconut butter, honey, vanilla
Cacao powder/nibs, honey
